Upper Kennerty Mill

Peterculter

+

Overview

Upper Kennerty Mill in Peterculter, a historic former water powered grain mill situated on the banks of the Culter Burn.

This category B listed building, dating back to 1838, faced an uncertain future following a catastrophic fire in 2006 destroying its roof and severely damaging the interior and historic mill works.

This landmark mill has undergone a complete restoration and conversion project transforming the building into a contemporary home of distinctive character, highly respectful of both heritage and setting.

The modern contemporary design by ak|a integrates many historic features and is both sympathetic and architecturally striking. Original elements have been preserved, reused, restored or salvaged by a team of skilled craftsmen including the water wheels.

This unique building has been transformed into a spectacular modern, contemporary 4 bedroom home complete with two waterwheels and a glass viewing floor to the restored mill machinery. It’s heritage and legacy preserved and a sustainable future secured for generations to come.
